I am not too sure how edible it is but I think it is interesting none the less. A friend brought some budwood from Texas 3 or 4 years ago, and I budded a few. It was only described to her as a edible flying dragon. It had a few fruit this year, so I might get to taste it. Anyway, I thought a picture might be of interest. The fruits are about as large as you would expect a Nippon to be at this point. That could be because the fruit set kind of late. It bloomed a lot, but this was the only fruit, which I think set late. Surprisingly, I never saw the fruit until eyeckr pointed it out while visiting me one day!

I will post how they turned out once they are ripe.

I'm glad your fruit were able to hold. They're coming along nicely and are not a bad looking fruit so far. The real test will be the taste test. Mine set some blooms but I picked them off to get more vegetative growth. Hopefully the fruit will be edible if not at least usable for a lemon-type substitute. At any rate this trifoliate hybrid certainly would make a great ornamental with its long gnarly thorns and twisted growth.

What a gorgeous fruit Ned!! It has more shine like a mandarin than US 119 or Morton Citrange. I can't wait to hear how it tastes!

It would be interesting to compare it with a photo of Dragon Lime! Mr. Texas? Buddinman?

My budded plant from you is doing good. No fruit yet though.

More edible than trifoliate, less edible than satsuma. I budded mine to satsuma.

Phil, I would say that is a pretty broad description. Do my pictures look like the one you had? It very well could be the same - I was told this one came from a tree at College Station. I have also been told that there is more than one Flying Dragon hybrid. I looked at some pictures you had posted, and they look a lot like it to me.

At one time I saw such a hybrid described somewhere as a "good hardy lime substitute". I doubted that when I first read it, and I would imagine this one will taste no better. None-the-less, it will be interesting to get to check it out for myself.

Your pictures look like mine. My budwood came from the guy who discovered the tree.

Looks identical in the picture. I should be able to check out the fruit soon.
