I have CLM!! the only thing is it doesn't seem to be spreading so i am wondering if it is from a past case. Does it spread fast and doesn't release a moth, i don't see any moths emerging. If it is active what can i do to control it?? |

The moths are very tiny & white. Look for very small specs & put you finger near them, they will fly to another leaf. They tend to hide under leaves during the day. |

You will also see small silver trails usually near the midrib. Distorted leaves are also an early sign.
If you live where cold weather is a concern, it is a little late in the season to use oil spray. Spinosad is one of the recommended insecticide sprays (the stuff I have is by Fertilome for borers). You can also use a systemic such a Avid (abamectin) or Admire (imidacloprid). There are also some biological controls.

I had it on a few leaves and all I did was pick off all the affected leaves and get them far away. No further problems
Good luck with this! |

If cold exposure is not a concern then you can use horticulture oil, but that only prevents adult moths from laying new eggs.
As for Spinosad, that is the common name for the active chemical, it is sold under a variety of trade names such as Success Naturalyte, Tracer Naturalyte. It is a pesticide that kills most insects but is not highly toxic to mammals. |
