My curiosity got the best of me today. Chinese characters using western letters is called the pinyin system.

She+eh Shay-n (n sounds like the n in sun) in Chinese, listen to a chinese recording of the pronunciation in the following links. I'm not making this up.

They are grown near the coast, hence the old nursery rhyme
" she sells xie shan by the sea side"

I always heard "she shan" too. Keep it simple....
