Greetings,

I'm a novice/hobbyist/greenhorn with about a dozen lemon trees
growing 3-4+ years now(from seed; in pots);
I've come to realize I need to graft in order to get
flowers/fruit before the next decade(if I understand correctly).
Surprised)
I'd be okay with any edible, sour lemon variety(harvey?, eureka)
but my preference is Lisbon(especially dwarf).

Question:
Where to get a few [affordable] budwood sticks?
I've looked at some budwood cert. programs, but for an
out-of-stater(like me, in AR), they either won't send to me,
or are too expensive for a small-timer.

much obiliged;
a fellow citrus lover,
William

William,

Welcome to the club! Can you add your location and zone in your Profile? Since AR (Arkansas ) is not a citrus-producing state, some members here can send you budwood without getting in trouble with Federal Laws, but it is wise to review the rules in your state if citrus propagating materials is allowed.

There is no genetically dwarf Lisbon in legal circulation, only that there are some dwarfing rootstocks that can be used to make dwarf Lisbon lemon trees.

I would be tempted to say that you can go to WalMart Store, buy a lemon plant available, snip-off a budstick or slice out a bud and then return the plant for refund... Smile but that wouldn't be nice, unless you help them "prune" the tree. Another is that you can also visit Home Depot or OSH or Lowe's, befriend the poor employees in the landscape area, and ask to snip for you a teeny weeny lemon stick that is out place.

But rather, we'd like you to review the rules in your state and some members here will send you excellent budsticks for the price of postage.

Regards,

Joe

Where are you located in AR?

Around here, outside of a local plant store, the only place you are going to find citrus is Home Depot and from time to time Sutherlands.

Thanks for the replies.
Looks like my zone is 6B. (south of fayetteville, AR).

Where would be the best place to find out what my laws are on this?
Does anyone have a link, or what best to google search?

The buy/snip/refund idea might be okay, but I doubt my
lowes/walmart stores even have such a tree (or it'd prob. be a meyer...
which i would like to try a few of those too,but I'm wanting sour).
I'd LOVE also to try bergamot, but that may be getting
way too greedy... Smile

Thanks again,
_William

Winslow? I have found Fayetteville to have a better selection than Fort Smith among the chains. I guess being a college town with more "diversity" has it advantages? Check HD in Fayetteville and you will eventually find some Citrus. Walmart usually only carries Pineapples, in our area.

Glen from Glens Pond and Garden in fort Smith is going to be getting in some citrus in April or May. If you would like, I can ask him what all he is getting in, I will be over there today.
