Someone told me the other day that citrus like to have a source of copper planted in their roots such as an inch length of copper pipe or a copper nail.
Is this an old wives tale or is there some truth to it????

Citrus do need some copper, but I do not know how much any elemental copper would help. It would have to corrode to be available and copper does not corrode much, but since the plant does not need much copper it could be enough.
Most citrus plants get all the copper they need from the application of copper for control of disease as a fungicide.
