Hello,
I have a fruit cocktail tree that has a Minneola Tangelo, a Persian lime (everbearing), a Meyer lemon (everbearing), a Ruby red grapefruit, a Navel orange and a Ponkan tangerine. I have it in a 15 gallon pot and wanted to know if it was feasible to be able to grow it in the pot instead of the ground?
Also, are there any special things I need to know on how to grow this particular tree? I read somewhere that I cannot let some branches grow longer than the others. Is this true?
Lastly, I have seen a lot of new leaves growing, but not one bud or bloom in it yet. My other Meyer that is also everbearing is full of buds and blooms already and I was wondering why would the meyer in the cocktail tree not be doing the same thing.
Thanks in advance.
Marce

Sure you could grow it in a pot, but it would probably grow a lot better for you in ground. You do have to make sure no variety takes over the tree. Really watch the grapefruit. They are very vigorous and will take over the tree if you let it. If it were me I would cut off the grapefruit part just because they are such strong growers and I think it will be tough to keep it manageable without pruning it so much that you won't get much fruit from the grapefruit portion anyway. But I am not a fan of grapefruit so it would be an easy decision for me.

thank you so much, I really appreciate your advice! I will try to keep it trimmed. Unfortunately I have no space for me to put it in the ground otherwise I would plant it. I hope it does well in the pot.
Thanks again.
