well i got an email from my sister yesterday telling me that the "little citrus is died" so today when i visited all of the leaves were off the tree. i dug it up, the ground was very wet, and the roots in poor shape. root rot. i asked if it had been raining a lot (only live 20 min away but maybe they got extra rain) maybe there sprinklers have been on too much or too long. i put it in a pot with better draining soil and i also grafted some of the dry but still green wood onto there Meyer lemon i do not think it will comeback or the graft will take but i though why not try

i grafted it two springs ago a fairchild. it stayed in a pot its first year and this spring it was placed in the ground. it was growing good, had a lot of new growth just last week it looked fine. the new growth was a little pale do you think that could have been a sign of problems.

My heartfelt condolences on the apparent demise of your beloved little citrus.

You should take solace in knowing that your little citrus has gone off to a better place; where the sun shines every day, the soil is neither too moist or too dry, and the nutrients are in precise balance for a bountiful harvest.

As a new small citrus grower, I am finding that nature sometimes works in mysterious ways!
