I just bought my first real orange and it just said navel on the tag, does this mean that it is a washington navel. The harvest time said from Oct.-Nov.

Many navel varieties produce their fruit in late fall or early winter. However, as your in Ontario your fruiting season could be earlier or later.

Look on the tag that came with the tree. If it shows the name of the propagating nursery, you can telephone them, tell them where you purchased the tree, and ask them which variety of navel it is. They should be able to tell you that information. - MIllet

Well on the tag it said grown in Canada at Colasanti's Tropical Gardens where is where i bought it so i am guessing that they must of bought budwood from somewhere and grown their own stock and grafted varieties onto the stock.

The most common "Early" navels are Washington & Cara Cara (Red Navel). There is also a Dream navel that is a early variety.

I think I may have something to offer Millet:
Marrs early navel
Variegated cara-cara navel

desperately looking for summer gold navel

Oftentimes even credible nursery retail stores interchanged navel with valencia names such as Rohde Red. Also I have seen labels such as Fremont Navel, Kishu Navel, Kara Navel, etc, even though these are mandarins. I won't be surprised if I come acoss names like Kishu Tangerine, Kara Satsuma...
