I didn't know where to post this and since you are a moderator I thought you could pass it along if anyone might gain from it. I was purchasing lawn fertlizer when I ran across Nitro-phos imperial lawn fertlizer. It is a
15-5-10
15% sulfur
.02% boron
.05% copper
2% iron
.05% maganese .0005% molybdenum
.05% zinc
This is close to the 5-1-3 that you talk about with trace elements and inexpensive compared to small container fertlizers $15 for 40 #.

Bob681, the Nito-Phos should work well. One of the more important trace minerals that citrus require is magnesium, which is normally never added to lawn fertilizers. I did not see it in the Nitro-phos formula. So add a half teaspoon of Epsom Salts (MgSO4) every other time you fertilize with the Nitro Phos and it should work just fine. Thank you for the post. - MIllet

I too bought some all-purpose fert. when I was in Fl.
It's 24-8-16
Copper 0.07%
Iron 0.15%
Molybdenum 0.0005%
zinc 0.06%

Looks like I should add a little epsom salt too. Rolling Eyes

I fertilized my potted citrus last month with the same old Miracle Gro w/minors that I've been using all along, a bit of liquid iron concentrate, and since I was also fertilizing a lot of potted peppers I added some magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts) since the peppers were not performing well. I got the expected boost on the peppers and a surprising boost in the citrus too.

I'm going to try wrapping the black plastic pots in aluminum foil this summer so maybe between the improvement in nutrients and keeping the soil temperature lower I'll be able to maintain the good Spring growth better than I was able to last year.

I am having the hardest time finding anything that has been mentioned. I can't even find miracid!! My BF just told me he bought 3-1-1 "For evergreens, cedars and other acid loving plants."

Do you think this can be good? I need to fertilize now and I can't wait to order exactly what I need.

Just do it. Just follow the instruction on the label. it is better to take action than not at all.
If your plants need micros later on then add them when you have them.
Your plant will show you what are lacking.
I bought my STEM on line. Just type stem and will show where to buy.

Hahah, I saw you replied over at the other place to on this, thanks!

As I wrote over there, I seem to have less iron and manganese, no nickle, no chlorine.

Here it is:

Iron 0.1
Manganese 0.05
Zinc 0.05
Copper 0.05
Boron 0.02
Mol. 0.005

I'll be doing the epsum salt thing to. I'm looking into STEM.

I'm off to research what symptoms to look for if my plant becomes deficient in Cu or Fe. I may however be back with the question here if my googling doesn't satisfy me.
