I agree with you about the cheap digital systems. A better option for me is to send a sample of soil to the state agriculture college soil lab. Cost is now $7.50 for each sample but they use a machine that cost thousands $. That would get expensive for someone like Millett and others that have lots and lots of potted plants. I think Millett uses a more expensive unit, not the cheapo units that are common.
The main thing is that you don't know what your soil needs unless you get an accurate soil test of some kind. The next step is a tissue analysis from a reputable source. Not many people bother to do that but some do and it can be very helpful in certain situations. Tom
