I'm curious if Dancy is a mono variety. It seems to be used a lot in breeding. Anyone know?

No. It is nearly 100% nucellar. The easiest way to cross it with something else would be to use its pollen on a monoembryonic cultivar. However, some of the Dancy crosses made around 1900 used the Dancy as the seed parent. That must have taken a lot of seedlings to come up with a few valuable hybrids.
