In grapefruit, dietary fiber content is higher in September (686 g/kg) than in January (586 g/kg). These findings indicate that it is healthier to eat grapefruit in the early harvest season because they have a higher dietary fiber content. However, late season grapefruit generally is considered to have a sweeter taste the longer they hang on the tree. - Millet (1,249-)

Much of the essential amino acids which human beings require in order to live, have to supplied from the foods they eat. Fortunately, oranges, lemons, and grapefruits supply eight of the nine essential amino acids, the only exception is tryptophan. - Millet (1,240-)

When you are taking statin drugs, you can eat grapefruits about 12 hours after or before you take your statins, that way you minimize interactions.

Grapefruits produce a flavonoid called naringin which is a very bitter tasting substance. Grapefruits are extremely bitter when immature due to the high concentration of naringin in the juice vesicles. As the fruit grows to maturity, the bitterness decreases with a decrease of naringin. However the absolute amount of the naringin does not change. The decrease in concentration is due to an increase in fruit's size. Meanwhile, from the beginning, as the fruit grew toward maturity the amount of glucose (sugars) continued to increase. For these reasons a grapefruit that hangs on the tree longer becomes sweeter and sweeter.
