Just to warm your winter a little here's some pics from my travels to the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. At the plantation you are able to tour by train, enter a pineapple maze, sample their fruit and take care of all your pineapple shopping needs.

On the Pineapple Express train you are able to see many other types of trees they grow on the plantation. Here is some sugar cane:

And why not top it off with some Pineapple ice cream?

That's pretty cool. Were the small rambutan trees producing yet? Thanks for sharing. J

Jay I thought you might get a kick out of those pics. I did not see any fruit on the Rambutan but on mostly everything else.

Been trying to talk my wife in going. I think she wants to go some place where I can't be a nuisance wanting to go visit fruit farms and nurseries!

eyeckr, I have been to Dole's Hawaii pineapple farm, and to their sugar cane farms (they have more than one sugar cane farm). Sugar cane requires a tremendous amount of water. So even with all of Hawaii's rain fall, the sugar cane still needs additional irrigation. Dole waters their sugar cane with drip irrigation. Dole is a customer of our farm. We sell to Dole at their Miami location. - Millet

Those are awesome pictures, i've been there myself when i was really young and i remembered the cane fields and the talk about the cane spiders, as well at the bananas in all different colors that really amazed me. I'd love to go back sometime now that i'm into growing tropicals.
