Hello all,
I was at a local Grocery store the other day and found what is called a "Cocktail Grapefruit" They are mostly green (not completely ripe?) about the size of a decent Naval Orange. It taste like a sweet (relatively) grapefruit. I would guess it is a cross of a Grapefruit and an Orange of some kind. I might have been imagining things, but I was sure I caught a wiff of Poncirus when I was peeling it, The wife said Not so much to her....so I am not sure. There was definetly not any aftertaste.
Anybody know anything about these? It had a fair amount of seeds, I will be planting them ASAP. I had bought two, hoping the second is as good and as seedy.

It is one of the best tasting grapefruit hybrids I have tasted in Southern California and is available for public release in the UCR budwood program. I sometimes see these offered in 5-gallon pots at Home Depot for around $20.

I haven't tasted one grown in Northern California yet. I have a grafted one, but it is still dormant.

I tried one this week and did not like it. Supposedly it is some sort of mandarin/shaddock hybrid but it tasted bland (like it could have ichang or yuzu in it).
