Chlorophylls are a group of naturally occurring green pigments present in all photosynthetic plants, including Citrus, and also can be found in alge and some bacteria. It's what makes citrus leaves green. Chlorophylls are in greater abundance than any other organic pigment produced in nature. It is estimated the annual production, at about 1,100,000,000 TONS. Carotenoids, the orange pigment found in the peel of oranges, and many other areas in nature is 100,000,000 tons. An interesting fact is that the citrus genus is remarkable for producing the largest number of carotenoids that can be found in fruits. - Millet

On land, that is so true.
Have they calculated the cholorophyll and other cholorphyll derived pigments that are in the bodies of water?

Water covers more than 70% of the earth's surface and thus receives more sunlight, so naturally that's where vast majority is to be found, and not on land, we just haven't explored the waters that much.

There's still about 90% of species to be found and catalogued.
