And they're not "Jersey" bugs so I don't know how to kill 'em! My newly acquired Rangpur has been a little "wilty" [new growth tips], no biggie, figured it needed to acclimate.Just noticed a few curled leaves, took a closer look & other new growth leaves [about 5] have a silvery glaze to the underside.I pulled a leaf off to get a better look & a tiny white worm popped out. [Ewww] I have Leaf Miners! I'm used to Jersey bugs like scale, mites, earwigs, fuzzy white hopping things but not miners. I think I got them all but is there something I can use to kill them? I have 6 citrus that I've had for 2 years that are "clean" or bug free for the most part & don't want them to get these things. Guess I'm gonna have to really check out the other 3 new trees also. Would Insecticdal Soap work?

So sorry, I didn't realize there was a bug section. Just sprayed all my trees as a precaution also.

Hopefully, there are not a lot of citrus trees around to support the miners and get them established in your area. They are difficult to kill because they are under the epidermis of the leaf. You can kill them by hand, you can spray oil to repel the adult moth from laying eggs on new growth, you can spray spinosad, or use pheromone traps. The traps have been the most effective for me, but my guess is that they will not be able to get established in your area. The adult moth is very small--about the size of a white fly.

Yeah, pretty sure I've saved Jersey from the great citrus leaf miner invasion! Wink All the years I've lived here I've never seen any kind of citrus sold in any of our garden centers. We get the usual palms, hibiscus, etc. but they're basically sold as annuals, very rarely does anyone try to bring them in before frost. I've been checking all my trees' new growth & so far so good. I'm positive the eggs were on my rangpur when it shipped & hatched shortly after as the leaves weren't "mined" much at all. I have a Cara Cara & Calamondin coming 2morrow that will be sprayed & checked over very very carefully! Thanks soo much for all the great info & for helping me.
