So I purchased a Thomasville from Stan this spring and planted it the ground, it had one fruit on it that I picked yesterday. It was green but bigger than a normal kumquat. I found it lime like and very juicy with no aftertaste.

Thanks for the report Frank. Ned had sent me some Thomasville seeds a while back and I'm eagerly awaiting the trees to start producing fruit. Still probably have a couple of years.

Ned also send me some Thomasville Citrangequat seeds a while back, which I planted. The tree is now fruiting for the first time this year. Thomasville is a very precocious grower, so it only takes 3 or 4 years from seed to fruit (at least in a warm year around greenhouse). As Frank writes, Thomasville citrangequat does make an excellent lime substitute, this is normally from mid-July onward, but isn't sufficiently sweet to eat out of hand until December. The tree also is unique in that it has trifoliate, difoliate and unifoliate leaves on the same tree. Thomasville has an upright growing habit. Nice tree. - Millet

This is one of the first citrus trees I bought. It had orange fruit on it towards the end of January when I bought it from the master gardener's sale in Houston six or seven years ago. IMHO, the fruit tasted was horrible, like all other trifoliate crosses I've tried including dragon lime. This was the first of the cold hardy citrus I tasted. I budded mine with brown select satsuma. Later I tasted a thomasville that was better.
