Hello!
I am fond of citrus trees and would like to know about hybrids with kumquat.
What do you know about lemonquat, orangequat, mandarinquat,
cirumquat, ichangquat, faustrimedin, citrangedin? Where can I read about these hybrids and see their photos? Are they easy to grow in my "windowsill" garden?
Please, help me. I need true information. _________________ Olga

One of the better limequats is the Eustis Limequat. Its fruit , which looks like a Key Lime is very juicy with a good tart lime taste. Eustis Limequats make an excellent container plant. The Nippon Orangequat (which is actually a Mandarinquat) is a cros between the Satsuma Mandarin and a Meiwa Kumquat. Usually used in making drinks and preserves such as marmalade. Both trees are quite cold hardy. - Millet |

Nice looking Kucle! The fruit seems to be as big as mandarinquat assuming the leaves are the same size.
So how does the fruit tastes like? |

Kucle :
The fruit is about 2 inch high, juicy and acid, but not very bitter.
The skin is like "Citrus clementina " |

They are about twice the size of a Nagami Kumquat. - Millet |

Has anyone seen a Kucle in the US? This is the first I have seen of this and it looks like it might be worth growing.
When I visited Just Fruits and Exotics last year they had a large lemonquat loaded with fruit. The guy I talked to there said it was the most useless citrus anywhere - bitter, no juice, lots of seeds, lousy rind, too small to be good for throwing. He let me take a handful of fruit with me, as I was thinking of maybe trying to grow some from seed, but after tasting them, I just threw them away, which I now regret, as it is very ornamental. |

Thanks to everybody. Kucle is nice. Is it worth growing on a windowsill?
Still would like to know more about hybrids and to see their pictures. _________________ Olga

Can someone clarify the difference/similarity between the Indio mandarinquat and the Nippon orangequat? I have read some conflicting information on the exact crosses of these two hybrids.
Thanks-Tony |
