This is a 2011 crop of 15 grapefruit produced by a branch grafted at the time of the 2006 Citrus Expo. I thought the Expo visitors would like to see the end result.

The Croxton grapefruit was grown in the ground without any protection. It was grafted onto Poncirus T. root stock that also supports a citransquat and a citrus taiwanica (pictured in the background). The succession of fruit crops are 1,2,15, and 5 (this year).

The grapefruit was grown about one mile from the oceanfront (by the way the crow flies), about 3 miles from the Chesapeake Bay, and about 1/4 mile from an esturary, "the narrows" of Broad Bay.
