This poem was written by Mr. Darrel Scott, a Colorado parent whose child was shot and killed at Columbine High School which is here in Littleton, Colorado. Columbine High School is about 45 minutes from my home. Joe Real sent me this poem in an E-mail earlier today, and I thank him for sending it to me. Nothing more true has been sent to me in a long, long time. Mr. Scott read this poem before the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. Our government officials did not respond and did nothing about it. - Millet
Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!
