A mere walk from our forums administrators home. We could have our pre-convention tour and dinner at Laaz's house. - Millet

That is right Millet. Here is the link to MG website.

This is a beautiful place to have the expo and there are a number of very interesting gardens in the vacinity, as well as many other atractions.

Too far to day trip this time, but I'm going to try to be there anyway.

It's not eccentric if there are a couple of hundred others there who do the same thing! Laughing

Alan,I don't think it is extravagant, the last time the Expo was in Charleston, (3 years ago), Citrus Joe and I flew all the way from Colorado to attend. Patty From Wisconsin also flew from Wisconsin to attend. Due to the Expo being back in Charleston (a city that one can directly fly into) I will certainly attend the 2009 Expo. Alan, I hope you do attend, as I would like to meet you. - Millet

Not extravagant, Millet. Eccentric. As the Chief Citrus Nut you should know all about that! Laughing

Some of my family is beginning to look a little sideways at me these days...

Not to offend any golf nuts here abouts, but it makes a lot more sense to me than flying to Hilton Head or a similiar spot to bat a little ball around a souped-up, glorified pasture.

I guess you would consider this a "clean joke" since it was spoken in all sincerity. I get calls from all over the place with questions about citrus and fruit trees. My number is on my web site for all the world to see so heres the "true story"! A few weeks ago, my entire family was sitting around the table enjoying our Sunday lunch when the phone rang. My wife answered the call and after explaining to the caller that he had indeed reached McKenzie Farms Nursery shifted the phone off to me! As I began to talk with the caller, my son asked his mom.." Who is that on the phone" ? My wife replied without a moments hesitation: One of your Daddys Nuts! MY son responded with: I wasnt aware they could dial the phone! Needless to say, we all had a good laugh at my wifes expense! Moral of the story, I guess all of us who would rather have a new citrus cultivar for Christmas or a citrus book... over a new set of golf clubs or electric razor are gettin those sideways looks! Yeah, we are all a little NUTS... but its great fun anyway! Hope to see all of you at the 09 Expo Extravaganza!

LOL, that is too funny, Stan!

I get calls and emails all the time about Calla lilies. My favorite is the lady who emailed me "I have invisible bugs in my lawn that bite me, how do I get rid of them?"

I went to 06 expo too. Left here w/ 2 girlfriends & drove to Sommerset PA & stayed with a friend there who insisted on treating us to 2 nights in Atlantic City (ARRRGH) - 4 of us crammed in a room. Then, I drove from there to Virginia Beach day before expo with a fresh broken arm (the 65mph wind literally blew me in Bali casino & I tripped on carpet) & no, I was not drinking! My girlfriend helped with driving back. It was a nice trip - except for A.C.

I told Mr. McKenzie that this year I will do EVERYTHING in my power to to meet him. The citrus expo will be it! I hope to drive up to Scranton - either before OR after the expo. I want that half bushel of SE Citrus!!! (for being the furthest away traveler to the Expo) perhaps it will be a full bushel this year ! Laughing

I have the pleasure of being at the Magnolia Gardens, Charleston, SC, both for the 2009 Citrus Expo, and than again 5 months later, in April of 2010 for the American Ivy Society Convention, which is also being held at the Magnolia Gardens. The city of Charleston is called the "Holy City" for its skyline of steeples, and despite Lazz living their, Charleston has been named 11 times, by the late doyenne of etiquette Marjabelle Young Stewart, as the "most well mannered city in the United States". - Millet (1,413-).

Laaz, I have mentioned it to Bob Duncan, our local citrus Guru who has been growing citrus on Vancouver Island for nearly 20 years. Bob is a entomologist by profession and hopefully he will join the list of experts on this forum - soon. I will send a note to Barry and maybe all 3 of us will come down to the expo Very Happy
