I have a small Eureka Lemon.. I noticed that I had not planted it properly (too deep) so I dumped the pot out and proceeded to repot it at proper height when putting the soil back in I noticed several green leaves in the soil.. they were rolled up with the ends capped.. I smashed a couple and they had brown gooey stuff in the center.. then I brought a couple inside and dissected them.. looks like one single maggot looking thing in each leaf roll in the gooey stuff..
Now I'm wondering if I should check all of my pots for these leaf rolls.. That would mean uprooting all of the trees.. some might need to be repotted before the season is over.. but not ALL.. Quite a few of the trees are missing lower leaves.. but looks to me like maybe the leaves used were maybe off several different trees..
I only found 4 or 5 in the lemon trees pot..
Any one know if this bug warrants repotting all my trees??
Aside from the missing leaves there seems to be no other damage.. but as they were buried in the soil I'm concerned that it maybe some kind of root eater..
Here are pictures I took..
couple of the leaf rolls and leaves that fell off..
Side view of leaf roll.. note the bottom capped.. top is capped as well..
Same leaf roll opened to see the gooey stuff and maggot looking bug..
all of the leaves and end caps used for these two "pods" *what didn't fall off before I got them to the plate for pics*
Any help/advice appreciated!!!
