This baby bird seemed to pose for a few photos.. The house is located about 2 ft from my front door so the birds are use to human traffic. I was able to get inches from the bird and it didn't budge..
I did not have to crop this photo.. I was THIS close..

another shot... Oldest son made the bird house yrs ago.. there has been birds in it ever since I put it up..

I need birds that only eat bird seeds or insects and not fresh fruits. I hope your birdie is not a fresh fruit eater.

I was watching earlier today as daddy groomed my citrus and flew away with a mouth full of insects to feed babies!!!
The bird is a house sparrow.. From what I've been reading they are insect and seed eaters so hopefully they won't get a taste for citrus too..
They chase off the starlings.. but don't seem to have a problem with the robins or morning doves that frequent my yard.. So far they are good birds in my book..
Thanks for the complement Joan!! I'll look in to that..

That IS a great pic Gina. You should submit it somewhere.
Put a caption under it: Who are you? What are you doing here? Where's my mama?
A while ago, I had a baby bird (younger than this one) hanging out of the birdhouse w/ his beak resting on perch. I thought he was dead till I touched him & he quickly went back in. He was SLEEPING LOL.

*SNIFF* ENS (empty nest syndrome) has set in....
I went out to clean filter on my pond and noticed it was very quiet.. I peeped (usually gets the babies going) but nothing.. my babies have grown and gone now.. Crying or Very sad I looked around to make sure that they hadn't been killed.. and couldn't find them.. they were starting to look old enough to leave the nest.. Poo.. now to wait for next batch of babies..
I already miss their welcoming peeps..

Patty.. Those would be some cute captions..
Think maybe I'll enter photo in local photo contest put on by conservation office this fall..
The photo I use for my Avatar took 3rd place in it's division last yr!!!
