Valencia, I have a large commerical size greenhouse, that was originally built to germinate and grow starter plants, that were then transplanted into the fields of our farm. We no longer use the greenhouse for that purpose, as the entire farm now grows wheat. I now use the greenhouse as my hobby structure. I have two greenhouse citrus trees planted in the ground, a Cara Cara and a Marisol Clelmintine, along with five Papaya trees and two Bananas, I also have 70+ different varieties of container citrus, plus various other containerized fruit trees.. I used to be in the greenhouse supply business for 14 years, so I have been inside just about every commerical greenhouse in Colorado, and I have never seen a citrus tree growing in the soil. The two trees growing in the ground inside my greenhouse, are quite possibly the only citrus trees growing in the soil in the entire state of Colorado. - Millet

The greenhouse is 32 feet wide, 70 feet long, and 16 feet high. The entire "foundation" has been trenched and then insulated from the outside soil. The trees are planted in raised beds with the soil maintained at 70F (21C) during the fall/winter/spring months. Because the entire greenhouse soil is insulated from the outside soil, it stores heat from the sun's rays, and therefore became a large storage source for solar heat, which greatly helps with the heating bill. - Millet

You'd be surprise how cheap they have become through the years. If you don't care about the looks, the cheapest functional commercial one that is 24 ft wide by 100 ft long is under $8,000 last time I checked.

My only problem is that I don't have the space in the yard.
