I’m looking for Austrian Finger lime. My first choice would be mature grafted plant (I’m old. I can’t wait 5 to 10 years for a seedling to fruit). Second choice would be mature bud wood ( I have an immature tree).
This applies to any of the Australian Citrus and crosses.

Hi Terry. Last I checked Just Fruits & Exotics had some grafted finger limes. Check the Mailorder section on this board.

Hey Casa. I think Stan only has some rooted plants.

BTW, how the heck do you bud a finger lime ? The tree I have is a pin cushion. I can't see a way to do it until the tree gets to a large size & then it still looks like it would be very difficult. Confused

Terry:
I should have read your second post before I responded to your first, don't know if I offered anything helpful. I correspond with a fellow in Australia that grows Finger Limes commercially. As a commercial crop they are just starting to "catch on" there. Over time I've learned a bit about them and I think I've finally figured out how to germinate the seeds, with decent sucess. There is disagreement, among growers, as to whether or not seeds from a specific cultivar will produce the desired color (of fruit). There are four (4) primary, recognized colors: red, yellow, green and purple/black. Some say there is variability within the same tree. Since it will be a while till I can pick a fruit crop I'll just prefer to believe that they will come true from seed. I do have a 3 gallon "green" F. Lime. Currently, I am growing "sanguinea" (red) from seed. Budwood from a "proven" tree would be the first/best bet. I'd say that the taste is to be "acquired"...they kinda taste like turpentine to me! Good luck.

turpentine is a fair statement. They have a very "off" taste.
