I sure know, Xerarch. We live in what is touted to be "the best weather in the USA". We are surrounded by commercial nurseries because we have such a unique climate. We are just enough inland from the coast that we avoid almost all the "May Grey" and "June Gloom" overcast, but we're not so far inland that we get the intense heat. It is rarely over 90 in the summer here. I might run my air conditioning maybe a total of 2 weeks in the summer, off and on. Makes having a swimming pool worth it as we're warm enough to enjoy it. And, we can grow so many, many things here. We are in a very unusual microclimate even for Vista, as we have a very large number of nighttime hours between 36 and 46 degrees, so we have a relatively high number of chill hours for coastal San Diego county as well. We feel very blessed to have been able to have found such a lovely place to live. Especially since we were returning to S. California after a 13 year hiatus, having spent the 10 years in N. Indiana (zone 5 and in the snow belt) and then the last of those 3 in Maryland. This little California girl is very glad to be home, and to be able to garden to her heart's content. Smile

I am in Salinas on California's Central Coast. I have been growing the green variety of fingerlimes here in the area and they do VERY well. I got a couple of the trees from Menlo Growers and my favorite tree from Manuel at Monterey Bay Nursery.

I saw on the UCR Citrus Station site that they have released budwood of the sanguinea varietal but have yet to come across it. I have called several nurseries and growers, but most have not found it available or say that the climate required is more tropical.

I am willing to pay good money for a tree, just looking to grow my backyard collection. I am attaching a few pictures of my current trees. Thank you for your help!

I grow both the Australian Finger Lime and the Australian Sydney Hybrid (M. australis X M. australasica). They are a great tree for container cultivation. They do very well in containers. - Millet

How do these do in the cold? Being xeriphilic, they're one of only a handful of citrus known to enter a deciduous phase, which might indicate some degree of cold hardiness. Supposedly, they tolerate Canberra, which would be ~zone 8, I think.

Isn't Indiana's snowbelt zone 6? Michigan's is.
