I recently returned from a working trip to Tajikistan, in Central Asia. In a local market I noticed a citrus fruit for sale that had a very lemon shape, but very orange color. The color was unmistakably that of Navel and Valencia oranges that are sold in the U.S.

The taste was similar to a sour orange. Not one of my favorites. It had a moderate number of seeds.

During some web research I found some mentions of Meyer Lemon being an orange color. However, all the Meyer Lemons that I've seen personally have been more of a round shape and yellow when mature - not orange.

So, what's your thinking on this cultivar?

Thank You. It is a very attractive lemon.

How is it usually used? Eaten fresh, juice, or ...?

I have had Meyers look exactly like that, well over ripe.

This fruit tasted more like a sour orange than a lemon.

Rangpur Lime is from India and very populary there.
It belongs to the Papeda group and is very hardy and vigorous.
There are different cultivars with round till lemon shaped fruits and very sour to very sweet taste.

It certainly could be a Rangpur Lime. I'll be planting some seeds from it today.

If I remember correctly, Rangpur Lime is actually a sour mandarin.

Meyer lemons, when fully ripe and orange do have a bad taste.
