Fellow growers,
yesterday I checked my citrus sinensis and I saw that the rootstock was growing leaves.
On the other hand the plant is totally leafless the last couple of weeks and I see the last branch dying back.
I have no clue on what is going on. Why does the rootstock get active whilst the rest of the plant seems to die? _________________ growing (at least trying): C. sinensis, C. latifolia, C. limon, C. mitis |

I guess it was too cold.
The sensible Citrus died and the absolute cold hardy poncirus or poncirus hybrid rootstock survived.
Just graft it again. |

I got that too on a orange seedling with sastuma grafted on it , the rootstock won this battle , just doesn't want to feed the scion and instead grow its own leaves
hope it helps

Spring 2011 I purchased and planted out about 25 various Citrus many were multiple plantings. On my two Glen Navel all the top growth died. On one of them the rootstock came out. On the other, which I just let sit there, it eventually pushed new growth from the dead water sprouts ONLY. I know mine were inground but the similarity was there. Why would the water sprout be able to regrow but not the regular growth? Only one had grown a water sprout after planting. Both had put on great regular growth after planting. _________________ Charles in Pensacola
