here are pics of mom's mini persimmon grove... The trees are sprinkled all over her property... but ticks keep me from going in to the woods to get them.. Glad she has this little grove..

I have picked out 3 of the 4 trees shown here to graft to in the spring.. The 4th I'd have to get a ladder to graft to it.. and I figure leaving one of them would help the others when it comes time for needing pollination..

My parents have only lived on this farm for 2 yrs now so we have no idea how old the trees are.. They look to be about the same size as they were 2 yrs ago.. As they are sprinkled all over the property we doubt they were trees planted by ppl..
There are also wild sumac, pecan and walnut and a field that is covered in wild black berries.. I can't think of the other wild edible stuff on their property.. but they really lucked out.. there was a cherry tree that had been planted.. and My parents have added peach and a few others I can't think of right now.. (no harvest yet so hard to remember)
Harvest season at their place will be a busy one in a few years.. good thing they have 9 grandkids local to help with that...

thats great!

the one in our back yard last year had some fruit, they were sweet. This year it didnt set.

there is one tree off the road about a mile away, too early for the fruits to taste good, but theyre bigger and mostly seedless! Id never even seen native persimmons before moving here, and ive never had asian persimmons.

come to think of it this is winter #3 my parents have been there.. every yr has been very good harvest!!! Maybe they are just super happy that all the rest of the brush had been removed?? The property had set empty for 8 yrs before my parents bought it.. There was lots of clean up and repairs to do.. but all the land.. 3 ponds.. swimming pool... out buildings... 4 brm, den, dinning, office, library, 2 bath... All for $80,000!!!
They were glad to do the clean up for that price!!!
