Got this info from online magazine called Citrus/Vegetable Grower. I hear this all the time: I cant eat grapefruit because it reacts with my meds!

Grapefruit-pummelo hybrid may help drug interaction issues
Consumers who take medication and worry about it interacting with grapefruit and grapefruit products may not have to be concerned for much longer. University of Florida researchers have identified the compounds in grapefruit juice responsible for the interactions, and breeders have developed a hybrid, known as UF 914, that has the lowest effect on enzymes within the stomach, according to a news release.

Or, you can simply switch medications if it is a statin you're taking, Stan. Crestor (rosuvastatin) or Pravachol (pravastatin) will not react with the chemical in grapefruits, pommelos or Seville oranges ( furanocoumarin derivatives) which can block the enzymes responsible for breaking down statins. So, just have a chat with your doc and ask him if you can switch statins! (from your friendly registered nurse & citrus hobbyist).
