Has anyone had experience growing O.P. Nagomi kumquat, a variety that was promoted by the late J. Stewart Nagle? About the year 2004, my tree produced a good crop of delicious, fully developed, and mostly seedless fruit. Since then, most of each year's crop does not mature before it gets too cold. The fruit is lost during alternate fruit set, drop, and heavy blosssoms flush cycles all summer until late August. After this, there is not sufficient time for the fruit to develop & ripen before cold weather. The tree is healthy and winter hardy with less leaf loss than all my other citrus. Any ideas for curtailing the long blossom cycle? I am hopeful for this year, as the blooming subsided about August 10th.

Good luck with your stewart nagle kumquat. I have one and the fruit never does really color up as late as March. I have seen them in April still green. The nagle kumquat is a sour one. Actually it is a cross of nagami with meiwa and takes after the nagami. I'll topwork the nagle kumquat this fall.

Try a nordman seedless nagami. Much better and is ready to eat by Christmas.
