Is there anything that can be mixes with round up Pro? I just finished looking at my logbook and it seems that I am spraying at a three-week interval. Round does work but the broad leaf weeds come right back.
A friend of mine suggested that I mix Sincore with the roundup and it should take care of that problem, but I am not one to experiment with my trees. Any way, I believe that Sincore requires a license to purchase.
Any suggestions? What do you use?

For non-bearing citrus trees, Preen granular is labeled for use. Their website says it has not been tested on bearing trees, but Treflan, which uses the same active ingredient (trifluralin) is labeled for bearing trees. Trifluralin is an excellent material for preventing weed seeds from sprouting. It has little or no effect on existing weeds, but your Roundup should control those. You would not mix it with the Roundup; it's a granular which you'd apply to the soil.

We grow aspen trees and Gamble Oak which we preserve and sell to the potpourri and wholesale florist busness. We have used Treflan as a broadcase herbicide amoung the trees. It works well. The only problem is that it does not control pig weed seeds, which is one of our main weeds. However, it seems to do well on just about everything else in our area. Treflan is very safe to use, and should not cause any problems what so ever. We use a tractor/cultivator to control weeds inbetween the rows, but Treflan sure cuts down onweeds and thus manual cultivating inbetween the plants in the row. - Millet

As soon as I read your reply , I went out searching for Treflan but I did not find it at my local chemical company. However I did find it on Ebay in a liquid. Wonder if itÂ’s the same product. Snickles, thanks for the link "Crop Profile for Citrus in Louisiana " it was very interesting. Some of the chemicals that UC recommends, such as Hyvar (DuPont Chemical), I would be afraid to use, as it is not a preemergent, it is an actual soil sterliant. - Millet
