Recently, I made a heading cut on a few of the more vigorous branches on my multi grafted apple tree. I notice several weeks later that the diameter of each of those branches increased significantly.

I started thinking about my citrus rootstock that I'm currently growing that isn't quite the pencil sized diameter that I want it to be. It also may not be large enough before the winter sets in and the bark stops slipping. Has anyone ever tried to make a heading cut to increase the diameter of their citrus rootstock?
