I noticed that most of my plants that I recently applied gypsum powder into the soil and watered in, were able to handle the heat wave we're having much better.

for one, those with gypsum, not one of them had scorched leaves, from apples, to bananas to citruses. but those that without gypsum, they have minor sunburnt leaf damages.

I only that gypsum is rich in Calcium which makes better stronger cell walls, but how much of that will be available will depend on your soil's physical and chemical properties.

Hi Joe, I have a friend who told me that gypsum board/drywall, is same gypsum for plants. He said to just grind it to a powder. Is that true?

Practically they can be the same. Perhaps some drywalls have calcium carbonate mixed in, while gypsums are calcium sulfate hydrates.

Gypsums are cheap, a 25 lb bag is less than $5. A dry wall on the other hand, which weigh less, costs $17 apiece, plus you have to grind them.

Most fake medicines from China that got into the US retail stores are made from gypsum, as they can be colorized easily and shape into pills that looked like the real thing.
