So do you have pics of fruitlets now? Blood oranges are cool, they have higher vitamins and antioxidants.

unfortunately the blood orange suffered lots of leaf and branch die back so no fruitlets.. Sad I did manage to save it and it is putting back on lots of new growth. Smile I think it got a bit too much water while on the porch. I think the combination of cooler temps and more water didn't agree with it. I warmed it back up and dried it out and it has been doing much better since.. I think next spring I will wait to take the trees out.. Maybe I'll get more blooms on it yet this yr? but then again.. not sure there is enough of the tree left to properly support any fruits.. Oh well.. there is next yr..
I'm excited that the blood orange that my youngest daughter planted from seed is doing great!! anyone know if blood orange comes true from seed? I was thinking as soon as it gets large enough to graft it to the mature tree and see if we can't get fruit from it sooner.. I think it was a Moro that the seed came from.. it will be interesting if it comes true from seed I will eventually have two varieties of blood orange!! and will be GREAT if the grafting trick works..
Eventually I want to try making wine with the fruit.. The flavor is unusual and I think it would make an interesting wine..

Gina, I know that some holdings of University of California Riverside citrus germplasm have blood oranges that are nucellar, meaning they came true from seed. Next year means another hope to look forward for blood orange fruit. I love gardening, the hopes spring eternal.

Gina, as those blooms are on a leafy inflorescence, and not stand alone blooms, the chance of them remaining on the tree until mature is quite high. - Millet

Thanks for the info!!
My daughter is tickled pink!!! here is photo of her and her baby..

can't see the pride can ya?? even if I can't get the breeders method to work on this tree.. she should be able to see fruit by the time she is my age...

Temps to be in the 90s again tomorrow.. after 3 days of showers it will be muggy tomorrow.. Trees sure love it more than I do!!!
