I hadn't been following the Florida quarantine, but I was a bit surprised to read that it was canker instead of greening disease that was the cause of the quarantine. I guess I'm more focused on our local quarantine . . .

Thanks Millet. I was told around the time of the filing that Record Bucks intended to bring a case against the USDA, but never saw a copy. I wonder what the status of this case is now? 2 1`/2 years have elasped since the filing date.

Ned, not 100 percent sure where it presently stands. Record Buck Farms (RBF) did win the case, and the USDA was ordered by the judge to pay RBF legal fees, and to allow the shipment of their citrus trees interstate, provided RBF met all of the USDA requirements to do so. However, just two months later upon appeal by USDA the judge's order was vacated. I think (??) the case is still under appeal. I have not actually heard anything in some time. A person can find out all the facts in this case, and its present standing, through the organization Justia. However, to do so, it is required to have a current Justia membership, which requires an anual payment. - Millet (1,261-)

Record Buck is a large producer of citrus trees, at least for the non-commercial grove trade. At least half of my trees came from them.

You are right Alan. RB is a big operation. Interestingly, many the big citrus nurseries seemed to have flourished under the quarantine. They lost the business from retailers in other states, but the quarantine put many of the small growers out of business, because they were unable to meet the stringent requirements for growing nursery stock, such as maintain budwood stocks, building and maintaining screen houses, etc.
