pretty cool Laaz

I just found out something over the weekend. My parents neighbor has had a trifoliate orange growing in his yard for about 6 years. His was a volunteer seedling from the neighbor on the other side of his house. It was coming into bloom this weekend. So I guess they are hardy around here. 2 years ago we had record low of -12 F that this one survived. Plus many many very cold nights and days since. I imagine that is nothing new to most here but I was excited to see they can make it inground here. I have always wanted to grow them here just for their appearance. Id prefer FD if I could get my hands on some.

Bonus is I now have a good source for seeds if i ever need them

Anyone ever grafted FD on Swingle or a fast rootstock? I put a piece of regular trifoliate on Swingle because I needed a quick source of seed. It's very fast on Swingle. I plan to do the same with FD if I ever find some budwood.

I'm going to try some of my variegated flying dragon on swingle this year. The variegated FD is so slow....

I wonder how many more days/months it will be until my FD starts growing this year....
It looks like Tim's PT in southeast MA was blooming in mid April last year, but I suspect everything will be a week or two later this spring.

Yes, no real signs of life on my FD yet either. Ivica, I wonder how many days earlier your FD will be than mine?

Hi Scott

Last spring was unusually warm. I bet the PT will bloom in May this year........or perhaps last week of April?

My FD shows no sign of life yet either. But that may soon change as finally a little warmer weather is predicted. A little warmer here means 12°C/53.6°F during day time... Rolling Eyes Laughing

I hope to see some flowers this year also! Very Happy

my PT is just sending started to send out some signs of life the "buds" are just starting to grow. We had record highs last weekend - nearly 18c ( 65f) that should give my plants a kick start.
I see the south east is still quite cool.... Shocked
