Kumquats are a rather cold hardy variety of citrus, and because of their cold hardiness they are late blooming cultivars. One attribute of cold hardiness, is the ability not to readily lose dormancy and start growth with the first warm spell as do oranges, but to remain dormant until sufficient warm weather finally breaks the Kumquat's dormancy. Therefore Kumquat, and trifoliate oranges, bloom much later in the season than do other citrus. - Millet

Thanks, As I had mentioned in the past I am planning on protecting these and wintering them in New England, heated and covered for the winter.

This was done succesfully for the calamondian (sp) that I babied last winter.

In any event the kumquat just got polinated and I am wondering when will I get fruit. I am hoping Nov, but thinking that that is too optimistic?

We do start picking kumquats in Nov here and it continues on into Feb or March. They hold on the tree really well.
