In your opinions what are the conditions for achieving maximum growth. I mean conditions other than temps since Dr.Manners said citrus grow well in root temps around 90 and ambient air temps of around 100. How much humidity do they need. I remember Dr.Manners being able to grow citrus from seed to flower in 7 months. I would like to try this to see what kind of growth I can achieve..

Andi,
It is not I who has flowered citrus in 7 months from seed. Not sure who may have said that. Sometimes grapefruit seedlings will make a flower or two in their first few months, but then they stop for several years before starting again.

I have said that young nursery trees like high temperatures, and Florida nurserymen often maintain daytime temperatures around 100 F. in their greenhouses.

Dr. Manners,

I misremembered the post. It was not flowering but budding age in 7 months.

You can force swingle rootstock big enough in one season to bud here in southeast Texas. We have a good 5 months of very hot weather in the 90Fs.

We have at least that long here also. Can you explain the method for forcing swingle? I am going to try to get some seeds now that we are already in the 90s. Will this method work for P. Trifolata also. I have a few seedlings that are about 3" tall at the moment.
