I just had an interesting conversation with a chef in a nearby city who has a fruit farm. He has some large citrumelo trees ( swingle) that he sells the fruit from every season. He told me he sells out and has people coming back for more! People at the farmers market are buying them for large lemons at a buck each! Has anyone else had any luck with marketing swingles? _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

He must have a lot of customers whose taste buds have been killed by smoking. |

Stan, this guy has some good spin. Any idea what it is? Just wondering if he has a way of using them that works out. He is a chef...maybe he figured out a perfect pairing? That or he has magic Swingle trees. |

Swingle???!!!!! If he's got people lining up to by Swingles, you could make a killing marketing Poncirus trifoliate fruit, they taste so much better.
Swingle is without doubt one of the worst tasting citrus I've ever tried. |

I think I have it figured out! He told me he sells quite a bit to bars where they use is as a citrus slice on the drinks. The bartenders must wait til the customer is about stoned and then switch citrumelo in the place of the regular lemon. At that point the customer probably cant tell the difference and the bartender is having a good laugh!

I tasted a swingle at your place, Stan , and I thought it was like a bitter lemon. They look like lemons, not grapefruit. One of swingle's parents is a grapefruit , no? |

I could probably sell swingle's in Asheville as organic local-grown lemons and people here would think its fabulous. |

You are correct, one of the parents is grapefruit and the other is bitter lemon. They do look just like a large, bumpy lemon. _________________ Y ORANGE U Growin Citrus

This thread might be the most fun anyone has ever had with a Swingle. |
