Is anyone growing a Kei Apple (Dovyalis caffra)?
I bought a small plant and didn’t know about needing a male and a female plant. Should I just buy several and hope for a pair?

I've refrained from collecting the kei apple because of the need of two sets of plants. I do have the hybrid Dovyalis hebecarpa X abyssinnica aka Tropical Apricot var. Prodigal which is supposed to be self pollinating. I see many blooms this year on my plant so I've got my fingers crossed for some fruit.



If I were you I'd get a few more plants, grow them out them out to sex them.
Conversely you could try and get a hold of Exotica Nursery out in California where I saw that they had male & female plant sets available.

I have one too Terry, only bought one not knowing about it needing two. Maybe you can bring yours over for a play date, lol.

I just ordered 2 more. I would hope that out os 3 I would have a pair. when they get old enough to show there diversity I can help you get a match.

I think we ordered ours from the same place, I recognize the label! I may order a few more too, I have some other plants I want to order also.
Actually I want one of everything they grow!
