Google has pulled its internet search engine service out of communist China, and redirected its service to Hong Kong. Google will no longer censor information as the communist government has demanded. This is a giant move forward for free speech. Google has received congratulations throughout the world for their brave decision. (China excepted). - Millet (402-)

Hopefully it will eventually be good for China, too.

Recently I have been searching for irrigation products in the USA, because the $Au is so high, and because prices for an item can be much lower in USA than the same item from an Australian importer. Google searching is driving me crazy because of their search rankings, and sponsored links. It used to be i could go to google.com to get USA search results, and exclude Australlian results, but nowdays the same 3 or 4 Australian firms keep popping up all the time(because they pay for it).
Google has nearly become a form of censorship of the web, because so much traffic goes thru it, and google determines the page rankings that give the search results. The more you search a topic, the more you will get the same results rehashed, and unrelated crap about keywords.

Personally I prefer Yahoo. I'm sure it has the same problems but I seem to have better results seaching there.
