Benny sent this thought out in a recent E-mail....

Tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

Very profound thought. It really comes at a good time also. My mother is suffering from Leiomyosarcoma, a very rare form of smooth muscle cancer. There is no cure and it came back after 5 weeks of daily radiation. They have started chemo and she will receive her 3rd dose on Thursday. These are 8 hour chemo treatments. The best we can hope for is to slow the monster down at this point. The doctor gave her 6 months and that was up last month. Her time with us is on borrowed time. She is still in good spirits and somewhat active. Hopefully we will have her around for a while longer.
Please keep her in your prayers.

Andi, cancer is such a terrible disease. I recently lost my father to cancer, and my wife's cousin was just given 8 weeks time. I really feel for you and your Mom. Be tuff and cheerful for you and your Mom. I have already said a prayer. Take care - Millet

Andi:
I had the same experience with my mother a very long time ago and I grieve for you.

Millet:
Permit me to add more:

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice. On Madams tombstone (of Whelan's and Madam) she said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve
it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

My sympathies as well Andi--I know what you are going through-- my father died of colon cancer-- he spent the last 3 months in the hospital and dried up to just 84 lbs.

Benny, I would add one more to your words of wisdom--

12. Nobody has a guarantee for tomorrow, so if you have something you want to do -- do it today or at least as soon as you can.
