Vinny for bringing it inside I would make sure it is a dwarf.

Many people think, ok I will plant it outside in the summer in the ground & dig it up in the fall & bring it inside... Most people don't understand what a 15 Ft banana weighs... I had to relocate one to another place in my yard two years ago. It took three of us to do it & we had to drag it as it was so heavy. Banana plants are about 90 % water I would say.

Patty:
Please see my post March 6:
Here's a part:
"The california gold I planted it too deep and its pup when I dug it yesterday turned into a mush. I can't even find it. Only a trace of dirty dark mud look alike I'd seen attached to the corm.
I will raise the corm as soon as I harvest the banana fruit. " So you see I don't have a pup.
The calif gold is just too new to expect to have a pup. I just bought it around November.
Also that calif gold costs me too much of an arm and a leg. And the guy lived about 150 miles from me(almost 2 hours-drive and I was lost twice (lol). I also had to dig it myself.
But one thing that I could not forget was when my wife found out how much I paid the guy for that plant. I learned my lesson well not to pay by check.

It's going to take many months maybe more than a year before I expect any pup to come up ( I hope).
This time I am just admiring the fruit of my labor.
Sorry guys. stakes are just too high to compromise myself at this time.

If you ask me will I do it again?
I will say I don't think so.

I will just wait for the raja puri and the enano gigante Joe Real promise me for free (lol).

Lazz, you are right about the weight and water-- but the banannas were much lighter after about 4 months of storage.

The digging and storage was really a lot easier than I expected--as I understood it -- you do not need a rootball for storage. If you have a place to store the bananna trees, like a basement or under the house, the medium size trees are really not that hard to handle. It will be worth it if this will consistiently produce fruit.

Thanks Laaz, I just threw my back out THINKING of digging up & moving the IC banana in fall, but that is my plan. The smaller one will stay in pot.
