If you recall, we discussed multiple rootstock grafting a while back. I grafted one seedling mangosteen onto my grafted specimen. The main plant is short with a branch just above the main graft. I grafted the first in this area but was unable to graft the second seedling at that time due to not having any room to do so. I've been trying to get an answer to this question: Can I graft the second seedling "above" the first branch of the main plant?

If I do this, will the branch be a part of the plant that will receive no benefit from this second graft? I don't understand the science behind this part and I'd like to be able to.

If I don't, then I will have to wait another couple of months to be sure the other graft took hold. Thanks! Jay

Ohiojay, yes you can do an approach or inarch graft. Wait until the other one has taken before you do the next operation. Again, I would do the second grafting if the other seedling is not a sibling of the first stock. Happy New Year!
